The World Psoriasis Day 2020 Campaign

It is hard to believe it has been a full year since we joined our forces for the last World Psoriasis Day campaign. As the months have gone by, we seem to have found ourselves more CONNECTED. On both global and local scale, we came to an understanding that working together and sharing knowledge is a key to an empowered community which can advocate the needs of people with psoriasis and motivate behavior change in their communities.

As the date for our big celebration – October 29th – came slowly into focus, we started to think about how this year’s WPD campaign could inspire ideas that speak to this moment of global challenges. Through brainstorms and workshops with our dedicated and passionate team in the Secretariat, Board and Working Group, it became apparent that there has never been a more important time to BE INFORMED. COVID-19 emphasizes the need in highlight, bold, and underline. People with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis have many doubts in this crisis. Lack of knowledge about the disease and uncertainty about access to care and medicine make us even more vulnerable. As we build knowledge about the impact of COVID-19 on individuals with psoriasis, we also build hope, protection, and purpose for those same people. This is the power of being informed.

Now more than ever, people are using the internet for information and advice. In this way, through our handheld devices, we have an ocean of information at our fingertips, as well as a tool to engage with what we learn and get connected. For this reason, we have selected the cell phone to represent this year’s World Psoriasis Day. We hope you will use your own device to follow the campaign and spread a word about psoriasis. It is time to BE INFORMED about psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
