Hellen Wangui Gathere

Psoriatic Disease Ambassador

Hellen Wangui Gathere

I was diagnosed with psoriasis at the age of 18 after suffering from the condition for some time with no correct diagnosis despite visiting a myriad of doctors. I had just enrolled in University and didn't quite have a correct diagnosis to my skin condition. Back then any skin abnormality in my country would be immediately dismissed as HIV aids by anyone who saw it leading me to always cover up and even wear wigs as I had cut my hair. Finally getting a dermatologist who made a correct diagnosis helped me gain self confidence and accept my condition and has given me an opportunity to educate curious eyes and anyone who'd have questions about psoriasis.
