In July 2019 I had a severe flare and was diagnosed with GPP. This initial outbreak covered over 70% of my body and necessitated 3 nights in the hospital. At the time we had hoped the flare was caused by an avoidable trigger and that I might never have additional symptoms. Unfortunately, in March 2020 I had a second flare and have since had 2 more. Fortunately, I seem to be in a period of remission and have not had an flare since 2021.
I have lived my entire life with chronic illness. I was diagnosed with Autism in 2020 and osteogenesis imperfecta (type 1) shortly after birth. I am fortunate to have had excellent healthcare but I understand that many have not had this privilege. It is my goal to advocate, not simply for myself, but for others who suffer without the same access to support.
I hope that my story can help spare others some of the pain and trauma that I've experienced as a chronically ill person managing multiple complex health conditions.
In addition to psoriatic disease advocacy, I work full time as a children's librarian. I have over 34k followers on Facebook, and I work with children's librarians from all over the world.
